Abstract

In a memorial essay dedicated to the recently deceased Lyudmila G. Kovnatskaya (Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor at Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory, Leading Researcher at the Russian Institute of Art History), Natalia Braginskaya highlights Professor Kovnatskaya’s collaboration with the International Musicological Society. Lyudmila G. Kovnatskaya was the first Russian musicologist who became a member of the Society and participated extremely actively and creatively in its activities. Thanks to her constant energy and interest, as well as outstanding organizational skills, domestic scientists joined the work of the Society and became co-chairmen of international study groups. Professor Kovnatskaya played one of the key roles in the formation of the Regional Association for Eastern European Countries, which she headed, and a number of large-scale events of the Association took place in Russia and the countries of the former USSR.
