The article is devoted to the analysis of the new opera by A. Tchaikovsky “Tale of Boris and Gleb”—the study of the characteristics of drama and musical language, as well as its stage interpretation. The justification of the director’s decision, relying on plastic, is due to the original interpretation of the genre by composer: with a bias towards an oratorio and an instrumental concert, with an active juxtaposition of speech and music, with a combination of monumentality and dynamism, academic seriousness and democratic openness.
