Abstract

The author reviews Yuliya Veksler’s translation of the book by the German musicologist Constantin Floros “Music as the Language of Man and the Language of Love,” published by the St. Petersburg Novikov Publishing House in 2023. C. Floros is an outstanding researcher specializing in Austro-German musical culture. The main idea of the book is the development of the humanitarian dimension of music. Floros relies on the interdisciplinary nature of his methodology and strives to overcome the narrowness of the musicological approach by turning to other areas of knowledge—literary criticism, art history, philosophy, and psychology. This is the scholar’s first large-scale publication in Russian.
