Abstract

In a conversation with composer Faradzh Karaev on the occasion of his 80th birthday, musicologist Rauf Farkhadov discussed the stages of Karaev’s creative path, personal and professional relationships with his father, composer Kara Karaev, found out what advice Alfred Schnittke gave to Faradzh Karaev, how the idea for the Concerto for Orchestra and Solo Violin, recognized as one of the author’s best works, and what the composer would take with him to a desert island.
