Abstract

In his essay, Boris Yoffe concisely examines how the perennial and fundamentally insoluble problem—Death—turns out to be a knot connecting ethics, aesthetics, myth and ritual. At the same time, he relies on various concepts of death, as they are reflected in musical works, in the first place—Requiems by composers of different historical periods.
