Boris Yoffe defines his own compositions as practical metaphysics, that is, the active equivalent of abstract work of thought. In his early major essay, he ascribes to Mozart a similar approach, thus turning him into one of the most important thinkers of mankind. Moreover, Yoffe encroaches on the European philosophical tradition, offering his own formulation of its “main question” as a problem of the integrity and value of the individual. According to Yoffe, Mozart not only deeply explores this question, but also gives an answer to it, and this answer is radical both from the point of view of accepted psychological, sociological and cultural concepts, and from the point of view of ethics.
