Abstract

The article by composer and musicologist N. Khrustcheva is devoted to F. Romitelli’s opera “An Index of Metals,” which, according to the researcher, has an “aquatic nature” that eludes musicological analysis. The author raises the question of the opera genre and formulates metamodernist features that distinguish it from postmodernist works. Numerous alchemical associations contained in the texts of K. Lekovic, which became the literary basis of the opera, also confirm the opera’s involvement in metamodernism.
