A representative of the young generation of modern composers, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory Oleg Krokhalev analyzes his creative process in a conversation with Andrey Goretsky. The interview touches upon the issues of control and unpredictability in a musical composition, the birth and materialization of the idea of composition, and reveals the sequence of stages in the composer’s work. The discussion also concerns the current forms of academic music, the social aspects of the composer’s manifestation in modern society, and the creative guidelines of the young author.
