Abstract

Towards the publication of the book by Marina Rakhmanova “Yuri Boutsko. Evidences of Life” (“Kompozitor” publishing house, Moscow, 2025) and the decade after the composer’s death, selected letters from the archive of Yuri Boutsko are being published: both addressed to the composer and to Marina Rakhmanova by his colleagues and friends and addressed to them. In the correspondence with Georgi Sviridov, Roman Ledenev, Andrei Eshpai and other composers, Boutsko discusses not only life peripeteia, but first of all music, rather unknown to fans and to musicologists, and Russian culture and art, a crucial topic of his every letter. The composer’s epistolary thoroughly commented on by Marina Rakhmanova, his wife and the leading researcher of Russian sacred music, is very valuable historical evidence of yet unreflected epoque.
