Hibla L. Gerzmava
Opera singer. People’s Artist of Russia, People’s Artist of Abkhazia, State Prize Winner of the Russian Federation. Associate Professor at the Department of Vocal Studies, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. Born in Pitsunda. In 1994 graduated from the vocal department of the Moscow State Conservatory, in 1996—graduated from graduate school at the Conservatory in the class of I. I. Maslennikova. Since 1995—opera singer at Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow State Theatre. Grand Prix winner at Tchaikovsky International Competition (1994), laureate of the Golder Orpheus (2001) and Casta Diva (2010) awards, repeated winner of the National Golden Mask Award (2012, 2016). In 2001 created the festival “Hibla Gerzmava Invites…” in Abkhazia. In 2021 became president of the Onegin National Opera Award. In 2023 was Chairman of the jury of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition in Vocal speciality. In 2022 started a new stage of life by establishing a named International Opera Singers and Accompanists Competition.
