Andrey G. Filonovich
He graduated magna cum laude from St. Petersburg State University as a music critic, where he studied modern musicology (class of E. S. Khodorkovskaya), music history (A. Z. Kharkovsky), analysis and description of theatre performance (E. V. Tretyakova), contemporary music (V. V. Rannev), methodology of analysis and description of music (M. P. Mishchenko). Theme of his master’s thesis: “The curse motive in XIX—early XX century opera” (scientific supervisor—O. B. Manulkina). Laureate of the International Musicology Competition “Music Academy” (2nd prize, 2023). Speaker at conferences at Zubov Institute (2023) and The Gnesins Russian Academy of Music (2024). He is at work upon his candidate dissertation on the music-critical heritage of Eduard Hanslick (scientific supervisor—A. L. Porfirieva). For his contribution to the 17th International Tchaikovsky Competition, he was awarded a letter of gratitude from the Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia (2023). Since 2024—Editor-in-Chief of the “Bolshoi Theater” journal.
