Andrey G. Filonovich

He graduated magna cum laude from St. Pe­ters­burg State University as a music critic, where he studied modern musicology (class of E. S. Khodorkovskaya), music history (A. Z. Khar­kovsky), analysis and description of theatre performance (E. V. Tretyakova), contemporary music (V. V. Rannev), methodology of analysis and description of music (M. P. Mishchenko). Theme of his master’s thesis: “The curse motive in XIX—early XX century opera” (scientific super­visor—O. B. Manulkina). Laureate of the Inter­national Musicology Competition “Mu­sic Aca­de­my” (2nd prize, 2023). Speaker at confe­rences at Zubov Institute (2023) and The Gnesins Rus­sian Academy of Music (2024). He is at work upon his candidate dissertation on the music-critical heritage of Eduard Hanslick (scientific supervisor—A. L. Porfirieva). For his contribution to the 17th International Tchaikovsky Competi­tion, he was awarded a letter of gratitude from the Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia (2023). Since 2024—Editor-in-Chief of the “Bolshoi Theater” journal.
