Abstract

In February 2022, Krasnodar Music Theater presented a new production of Modest Mussorgsky’s opera “Boris Godunov.” It includes the Fountain Scene orchestrated by composer himself, as well as the previously never performed the Sokolniki on the Dnieper Scene from the third and fourth authorial versions of this opera. Nadezhda Teterina, Candidate of Art Criticism, and Evgeny Levashev, Doctor of Art Criticism, editors of the Complete Collected Works by M. P. Mussorgsky, also took part in the Krasnodar production. In the interview, Nadezhda Teterina touches on the topic of numerous versions of “Boris Godunov,” describes the challenges of preparing the critical editions, along with some aspects of Mussorgsky’s legacy studying.
