George Harliono: “The Surest Way to Performing Pleasure is to Sleep Before a Recital”
George Harliono is a 23—year-old pianist from the UK. He gave his first solo recital at nine and has been performing regularly worldwide ever since. Among his achievements are such prizes as the Grand Piano Competition (Russia), the Royal Overseas League Music Competition (Great Britain), and the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition (USA). In 2023, George was awarded the second prize at the 17th International Tchaikovsky Competition, attracting the attention of many Moscow music lovers. In the interview for the “Music Academy,” George shares the story of his professional evolution, talks about memorable concerts and his acquaintance with Tariverdiev’s music. Other important topics of conversation were the peculiarities of music education in England and “the duty of a musician.”
