Elizabeth Wilson
Elizabeth Wilson is a cellist, lecturer, musicologist and teacher. Between 1964 and 1971, she studied at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory under the guidance of Mstislav Rostropovich. Worked as an assistant of Natalia Gutman at Fiesole School of Music. Nowadays, Elizabeth Wilson is one of the leading researchers in the field of Soviet musical culture. She has written several monographs such as “Shostakovich: A Life Remembered” (1994), “Jacqueline Du Pre: Her Life, Her Music, Her Legend” (1997), “Mstislav Rostropovich: Cellist, Teacher, Legend” (2007), “Playing with Fire: The Story of Maria Yudina, Pianist in Stalin’s Russia” (2022).
