Irina V. Stepanova
Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. Born in 1950 in Berlin. She got musical education in Moscow: Moscow Musical College under Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and its Post Graduate Course (School of History and Theory). Starting from 1980 she teaches at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. Author of Chapters in Manuals on History of Russian Music of XIX and ХХ centuries, article about Russian composers of the second half of the 20th century, monographs: “Word and Music. Dialectics of Semantic Relations” (1999); “In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Shostakovich. Opening the Second Century: Dispute in Progress” (2007); “Music as the Invariable of the Russian Literature. Alexander Kouprin” (2019). Research Advisor of eight defended theses in a candidate of art criticism.
