Russian and American musicologist, lexicographer, composer, conductor, and pianist. Born in 1894 in St. Petersburg. Studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (1908–1916). Since 1923 he lived in the USA. Author of several reference publications—“Music since 1900” (1937), “Music of Latin America” (1945), “Lexicon of Musical Invective” (1953) and others; editor of O. Thompson’s musical encyclopedia, T. Baker’s biographical dictionary of musicians.
