Aleksandr V. Kharuto
Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor. Born in Moscow in 1949. In 1971 he graduated from the Radio Engineering Faculty of the Moscow Electrotechnical Institute of Communications, then completed his postgraduate studies at the Central Scientific Research Institute of Communications, specializing in communications theory. In 2006–2021 — Head of the Scientific and Educational Center for Music and Computer Technologies of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. Since 1995 he had been teaching a course on music informatics, which includes theoretical and practical sections. Since 2002 he had been an Associate Professor of the Music Theory Department, since 2010—Associate Professor of the Music and Information Technologies Department, Head of the Department. Areas of activity: teaching the course “Music Informatics,” development of programs for computer analysis of musical phonograms (research of melodic patterns and timbre features), development of databases and data processing programs for computer research in social sciences. Author of the textbooks (2000, 2009, 2010) and a curriculum for performers (2005, 2014) for the course “Musical Informatics.” Had over 100 published works. Died in Moscow in 2021.
