Yuri S. Karpov
Conductor, teacher, professor of the Choir Conducting Department, Vice-Rector for Research of the Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory (since 2015). Graduated from the Conducting and Choir Faculty of the Zhiganov Kazan State Conservatory (2002), where he also completed assistance internship (2004) and post-graduate studies (2005). Candidate of Art Criticism (2006, under Doctor of Art Criticism, Professor A. L. Maklygin). From 2002 has been teaching at the Choir Conducting Department. Frequently performs with the choir, symphony orchestra, and the Opera Studio of the Kazan Conservatory. Chairman of the organizing committee of the International conferences “Readings in the memory of S. V. Smolensky,” founder and member of the organizing committee of the International Conductors Competition (Kazan, since 2012), member of the organizing committee of the Kazan Choir Assembly (since 2002), and many other. Karpov’s academic interests are represented by the foreign and home choir culture, contemporary church singing, and the problems of education in sphere of choir conducting.
