Zivar M. Guseynova
Doctor of Art Criticism, Head of the History of Russian Music Department at Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory. Zivar Guseinova is a disciple of Maksym Brazhnikov. She spent the 1991/1992 academic year in the USA working as an assistant to Miloš Velimirović. Her academic interests include early and classical Russian music. Professor Guseinova has published monographs, including the one on Alexander Mezents’s “Izveshcheniye” and the 17th-Century music theory, and more than 160 articles on Old Russian chant and 19th-Century Russian music (Anton Rubinstein, Rimsky-Korsakov, Glazunov, Glinka, Modest Tchaikovsky). She is a member of editorial board of journals “Opera musicologica,” “Vestnik of St. Petersburg University. Arts,” and “St. Tikhon’s University Review.”
