Grigoriy I. Hansburg
Musicologist, teacher, music critic, composer, pianist. Born in 1954 in Kharkov. Graduated from the Music History and Theory Department of Kotlyarevsky Kharkov State Institute of Arts (under L. N. Bulgakov). From 1978 to 1985 was a teacher at Lysenko Poltava Music College, and from 1984 at Lyatoshinsky Kharkov Music College and the Kharkov Institute of Arts (now Kotlyarevsky Kharkiv National University of Arts). Candidate of Art Criticism. In 1993 became the Head of the Institute of Musicology. Member of the Union of Composers (since 1989), the All-Ukrainian Music Union (since 1992), the Union of Journalists of Ukraine (since 2011). Co-founder of Kharkov Foundation for the Support of Young Talents (1994), president of Kharkov Schubert Society (since 1996). Laureate of I. I. Slatin Prize (1997), Grand Prize in Culture and Arts (2014), Editor and compiler of 17 books and 25 music publications, an annual and scientific musicology collections of Kharkov Assemblies festival. Author of musical works, mainly vocal and choral. Also performs as a pianist. Since 2022, he has been living in Zurich (Switzerland). Areas of scientific interest include music history and theory, the interaction between music and literature, Schumann studies, Schubert studies, and music criticism.
