Leonid A. Desyatnikov
Composer. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, member of the Union of Russian Cinematographers. In 2009–2010—Musical Director of the Bolshoi Theater. In 1978 he graduated from Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad State Conservatory in composition under Professor Boris Arapov and instrumentation under Professor Boris Tishchenko. Among his works are vocal, symphonic, instrumental works, the operas “Bednaya Liza,” “Nikto ne khochet pet’, ili Bravo-bravissimo, pioner Anisimov,” “Vitamin rosta,” “Tsar’ Dem’yan,” “Deti Rozentalya.” He also collaborated with the Alexandrinsky Theater, A. Ratmansky, G. Kremer. He was awarded the “Golden Aries” prize and the Grand Prix of the IV International Biennale of Film Music in Bonn for the music for the film “Moscow” and the special prize “For Contribution to Russian Cinematography” at the “Window to Europe” Film Festival in Vyborg. The opera “Deti Rozentalya” was awarded a special prize of the musical theater jury of the National Theater Award “Golden Mask” “For the initiative in the development of modern Russian opera” (2006). In 2012 he was awarded the “Golden Mask” Prize in the nomination “Best Work by a Composer in a Musical Theater” for the ballet “Utrachennye illyuzii,” staged at the Bolshoi Theater. Winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation for the performance of the Alexandrinsky Theater “Revizor” (2003), the Tariverdiev Prize for the best music for a film at the “Kinotavr” film festival for his work on the film “Van Gogi”.
