Elena A. Artamonova

PhD, violist and researcher, has published world­wide on the history of the viola and of the 20 th century Russian music in Russia, France, the UK and the USA. Her work has been presented at many international conferences. She released premiere recordings of the complete viola works by Grigory Frid, Alexander Grechaninov and Sergei Vasilenko on “Toccata Classics.” Elena’s teaching experience includes employments as Musician in Residence and Head of Strings at long-established schools in the UK, currently working as Lecturer at UCLan. Prizes include the British Reserve String Prize, Michael Stucky Trust award, Associateship of the Royal College of Music with Honours and Fellowship of the London College of Music. Elena received her education at Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory under Yuri Bashmet in 1998, followed by postgraduate tuition from Martin Outram, Nobuko Imai, Tabea Zimmermann and David Takeno in London, Geneva, Amsterdam and Berlin. In 2014, she defended her Doctoral Dissertation at Goldsmiths, University of London, under research supervision by the late Alexander Ivashkin.
