Leyla V. Abdullayeva

Musicologist, Candidate of Art Criticism. In 1976 she graduated from the Piano Department of Azer­­baijan State Conservatory. In 1992 she de­fended her candidate’s dissertation on the topic “The evolution of the principles of form-building in the works of Azerbaijani composers. On the problem of the interaction of national and pan-European traditions.” In 1994 she began teaching at Baku Music Academy (from 2007—asso­ciate pro­fessor of the Music History Depart­ment). In 1998, together with a group of students, she orga­nized the first music and journa­lism maga­zine in Azerbaijan, “Şərgi.” Author of the book “That Which Fate Decided to Give,” dedi­cated to the work of the Azerbaijani violinist Azad Aliyev. Author of more than 200 articles on music. Since 2013 she has been living in Israel (Jerusalem).
