Vladimir Minin directed the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir for almost half a century: from 1972 to 2019. He created a collective with individual artistic style and aesthetics, which became one of the best choirs in the world under his leadership. In 2019, the maestro voluntarily resigned from the post of artistic director and chief conductor. His departure was unexpected, although the decisive step was conceived a long time ago. The powers were transferred to the second conductor Timofey Gol’berg, who was not even thirty years old at that time. The choice of a successor was influenced by the fact that Gol’berg, in addition to a diploma in choral conducting, also has a diploma in conducting a symphony orchestra. Vladimir Minin talks about the tasks facing his young colleague, about his role in the team he created at the current stage and about the repertoire problems of the Russian choral culture.
